Here are different media types that are used to create a virtual tour. I will create a tour for the media department and i will have to understand these to be able to complete the unit. For this unit i want to entertain, inform and educate my audience. I want to make a virtual tour that my audience wont get bored half way through and to inform them on what the media department consists of and how it can affect your life. I want to show that media has a serious side but at the same time it is very exciting and interesting.

Sounds/Audio- Audio would be used if background music is being played or when people speak in the video. This will give the teachers an opportunity to get their feelings across about the course and what they can do to help. This helps parents and pupils get information on what happens in the department helping them decide whether they want to do that course or not. The purpose of this is too show information other than having to look at something so this gives you the option of changing it a bit.

Images- Still images would be used to display photos of the department. A benefit of images are that you can put them where ever you want to showcase students work and show what benefits that department offer you. This is helpful as new pupils would see the sort of work that they would be doing and parents would see that the school is clearly a fun place to be in and what they can offer to there child. The purpose of this is show information in a different way instead of just showing it in audio or text. This will make it easier for your mind plus it is alot funner.

Videos- Videos would be used to show off work and can give a virtual tour of the department and what they offer. It meets the audiences expectations because it shows them the technology they have and what they can do with it. It also goes into more detail in what they offer and how they can help you. Videos are a lot more useful than still images as it goes into more detail and gives people a bigger idea. The purpose of videos is that you can show alot more information in a less amount of time therefore you can make it more informative.

Text- Text would be used to give written information in more detail about the department. The audience is more parents are they can get a clearer idea of what the course offers and what grades they will get and how this can help their child progress in the future. A benefit of text would be you can write everything that you need to get across and is important about the course. The purpose of this is to just show information straight up and just try to get the point across. This way is alot more formal but less entertaining.  

Animation- Animation would be used for website design or ways of showing videos in a more entertaining and funner way. This would be aimed more at children and people coming to the school as it would grab there attention easier and they would want to watch it more. This helps the department as it gives them different ways of completing work and gives makes it a lot different and funner. The audience for animation is normally younger people who find it alot more interesting than older people would. The advantage of this is that you just use animation to show young people as they will take a much bigger interest.  

Navigation/Transition- Navigation would be used website design to be able to get around and access it more easily. This is aimed at both students and parents as students will be using it when creating websites and stuff in media and parents would use it when going onto the Kingswood website.

Graphics/Logos- Logos would be used to show its from the Kingswood school or to make people realize its from you and it makes your work look better and more detailed. This would be aimed at anyone because students can use logos and graphics to make there work look better and more professional and parents would see the logos when letters are sent home from media or reports.
