4 improvements that I could make upon this website are;
The first improvement i would make would be updating the website weekly by adding newer films so once they have watched the film they could then watch the newest one such as ice age and then ice age 2. The advantage of this make the website alot more popular because it is up-to-date and may interest more people to join. The disadvantage of this is it would take alot more time and effort.
The second improvement i would make would be by making a form so that new customers could enter there age and they'd be given username and password. This is helpful because it will restrict any films they shouldnt watch and will just allow the films that they can purchase. The advantage of this would be that the webiste will be alot more controlled and parents will be able to see what kind of films theire child is watching. The disadvantage of this is that students could lie and put an older age to what they are so they can watch them films.
Another improvement i would make would be that the website will automatically try and help the student try and choose what kind of film they make like on what films they have purhcased in the past. The advantage of this would be that the website will become alot quicker and simplier to use and understand. The disadvantage may be that they may want to watch a different genre or something for a change.
The fourth improvement i would make is that id change the background from a plain black to something more exciting and colourful. This would make the website seem alot more friendly and interesting towards the customer. The advantage of this is that certain things will stand out more and the website will be alot more exciting.

I used navigation to help create my website. I made links to all the pages backwards and forwards which will enable people to access all parts of my website easier and without any trouble. I made sure all the links when clicked on would taker the viewer to the correct page. In my website there is also a form on the reviews page. I have put this on my website so i can improve it and customers can also get their opinions across. You can do that by typing in the film name and then write your review in the comment box below and press enter and that will automatically submit your review. I have added pictures of the films onto the page incase you don't know what film it is. I have also added trailers of each of the films available onto the website so people are able to watch theses trailers through the website by just clicking on the picture of the film. I created my website on Dreamweaver by selecting the features that I wanted on my form for example, a drop down box for people to select a film, a text field for people to enter their comment. I have two buttons on my payments page which are sign in and then enter. Once you have signed in it will let you complete your payments. The final page i have two buttons which will let you sign up and buy films and the other button will let you sign in and access your account.

Data Protection Act;
The data protection act is an act that protects your personal data against threats when you give your details to a service or a company. This act stops people trying to steal off the internet and using it for themselves. If you try and go against the act then you will be prosecuted. The main intent is to protect individuals against misuse or abuse of information about them. The DPA was first composed in 1984 and was updated in 1998.
Security Risks:
Hacking;
The most common way of hacking is gaining access into a server, taking a copy of a credit card database or some other attack.Hacking is the act of breaking in to a computer system and is a criminal offence under the computer misuse. Computer hacking is the most popular form of hacking nowadays, especially in the field of computer security, but hacking exists in many other forms, such as phone hacking, brain hacking, etc. and it's not limited to either of them.
Viruses;
A computer virus is a program or piece of code that is loaded onto your computer without your knowledge and runs against your wishes. Viruses can also replicate themselves. All computer viruses are man-made. A simple virus that can make a copy of itself over and over again is relatively easy to produce. Even such a simple virus is dangerous because it will quickly use all available memory and bring the system to a halt. An even more dangerous type of virus is one capable of transmitting itself across networks and bypassing security systems.
Identity theft;
Identity theft is a crime in which an imposter obtains key pieces of personal information, such as Social Security or driver's license numbers, in order to impersonate someone else. The information can be used to obtain credit, merchandise, and services in the name of the victim, or to provide the thief with false credentials. In addition to running up debt, an imposter might provide false identification to police, creating a criminal record or leaving outstanding arrest warrants for the person whose identity has been stolen.
Security protection mechanisms:
firewalls;
A system designed to prevent unauthorized access to or from a private network. Firewalls can be implemented in both hardware and software, or a combination of both. Firewalls are frequently used to prevent unauthorized Internet users from accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially intranets. All messages entering or leaving the intranet pass through the firewall, which examines each message and blocks those that do not meet the specified security criteria.
Secure Socket Layers (SSL);
A Secured Socket Layer, or SSL, is the usual way that a website creates a secure connection with a web browser. Whenever a web surfer visits a secure site that uses SSL technology, it creates an encrypted link between their browser session and the web server. SSL is the industry standard for secure web communication and is used to protect millions of online transactions each day.

Web 2.0; Web 2.0 is term
that was introduced in 2004 and refers to the second generation of the Web. The term "2.0" comes from the software
industry but the new generation of the Web includes new features and abilities
that were not available in the past. Web 2.0 is mainly to do with technology
improvements and changes. Web 2.0 has become a lot more social as it a lot easier
to share information on social networking sites such as Facebook. As the sites
continue to grow, more features are added, building off the technologies in
place. Blogs
also known as Web logs, these allow users to post thoughts and updates about
their life on the Web. Sites like Wikipedia and others enable users from around
the world to add and update online content.
Blogs; It is a short
term for "Web Log," this term refers to a list of personal
information posted on a Web page. Anybody who knows how to create and publish a
Web page can publish their own blog. Some Web hosts have made it even easier by
creating an interface where users can simply type a text entry and hit
"publish" to publish their blog.
Because of how simple it is to create a blog, many
people often young kids and adults have found a new lifestyle on the Web. Now
days it is a lot more common than people share their personal feelings and
experiences with thousands of people around the world than keeping them to their
selves. This creates a lot friendly and commutative world where people can talk
and share anything they want with anyone. Blogs are typically updated daily,
monthly, or anywhere in between.
Online applications; These are used by people who are
on the internet. These applications can mainly only be used by people who are
connected to the internet. A good example would be ‘YouTube’ as you can only
watch there videos if you are connected to the internet.
Cloud computing; Cloud computing refers to applications and services offered over the Internet.
These services are offered from data centers all over the world, which
collectively are referred to as the "cloud." The idea of the cloud simplifies the many network
connections and computer systems in the world. Many network diagrams use the
image of a cloud to represent the Internet. This symbolizes the Internet's
broad reach, while simplifying its complexity. Any user with an Internet
connection can access the cloud and the services it provides. Examples of cloud
computing include online backup services, social networking services such as Twitter. Cloud
computing also includes online applications, such as those offered through
Microsoft Online Services.

User side factors:
processor speed; The processor's job is to manage all of the computers operations and how well it runs. This includes memory, download speed, internet history, RAM and all the other main operations your computer needs to run. All data used by a computer is going through the CPU. The larger the cache size and the higher the clock speed, the faster your PC will operate.
Server side factors:
download speed; Obviously you don't want to sit around and wait for things to download so this could be affected by the speed of your computer as it can only load certain things at a time. Another reason how your download speed could be affected is if you have loads of programs open such as Facebook, Msn, Youtube etc.. which take up alot of memory and take much longer to load so this will slow your computer down considerably. Also it could be to do with the stability of your computer at that time.
PC performance; There are many things that will affect the performance of your computer such as how much memory is used up, processor speed and the browsers cache. Browsers cache is where if you have already visited a page then you go on it again then it will load quicker as it will be stored in the browsers cache.
browser; There are many different browsers such as Firefox, Safari, Google chrome etc.. but they work very differently as google chrome is the fast browser. When it was tested it came out better in Javascript speed, CPU usage for example. This is important because then the browser will load quicker and be able to download your items in a much faster time. Browser performance is how long it takes to load a page and how it appears to the user.
Server side factors:
web server capacity; Website are only made to have some many different users on at the same time. Each website is made with a different capacity because of the popularity of the website, for example Youtube will have a much bigger capacity than corby town football clubs website. If too many people try and access the same page at the same time then it will run alot slower and may even crash.
bandwidth; The bandwidth is the amount of times your website can be viewed. The lower the bandwidth the slower your website will run but the higher the bandwidth then the faster your website will run.
number of hits; If you have loads of people trying to access the same page or video then it will be become alot more slower and wont run as smoothly. For example if thousands of people want to watched the same video then it will buffer alot to keep up to speed with all the users watching it.
file types; The file type and file size is very important in relation to a website when referring to its performance. "Jpeg" files are alot more compressed and lower quality compared to a "wav file". This means that it would take less time to load, which will ideal to use for a website because it would load quicker and the user will be able to access what they would like in a shorter amount of time. Some files may download faster than others, so it is important that you choose the small file so it will download in a much quicker time. Audio files are alot more complex as the file extension can have a huge impact on the overall performance and a good example would be of a wav file could be an MP3.

Daniels virtual tour is fit for purpose because it works to a high standard and has all the correct information which suits the department being used. He has described clearly what the subject entails and how it will help you progress in the future and it also tells you the who the teachers and what they are about. One thing Daniel did well in on the website was go into alot of detail about the course and the whole media department.
Another thing he did well was add various pictures of the class and the department to show you the kind of rooms you will be working in. The project overall is up to a high standard which shows signs of creativity and all the links work which makes the tour professional. Things i would improve would be;

There will be no copyright on the images I used in my project as I have taken all of the pictures myself so that means i have permission to use them for myself and i don't need any student or staff permission as they aren't in the images. There's no copyright on music as i haven't used any music on my product. Everything in my product is all my own work so there is no chance of plagiarism. All the videos, photos and fonts i have used my self and made sure there aint no restrictions using them.

I created my logo in Photoshop by blending different color boxes together to show that media is a creative subject. Then I used the font ‘Impact’ fort he text because it is thick and stands out. My client said that the logo goes with the Media department as it stands out but it could be more clear. For the home page I decided to use just a picture so I could separate all the information into different sections. I chose the color yellow for the links because it stands out and makes the website look more exciting and colorful. The feedback i got from my client was that the colour scheme i used goes with the media department but i need to make the pictures clearer and stand out a little more. A suggestion that was made by my client was that i have more in-dept detail and more precise information.
The changes i made were that i changed to the whole colour scheme to make it look more professional, i also added 3 more slides which add more information about what media entails and how it is run. I also created my own logo and removed the old one and i changed the lay out to make it easier to access and move about.
